082. Day 87. Monday 8th June 2009.
Being the Queens Birthday holiday we are not inclined to hang around Yeppoon but may come back at a future time for a better look around. The tired old Yeppoon which I remember is slowly being transformed although it is a mixture of old and cheap alongside new and maybe not so cheap. Instead we head to Mackay. As we are heading to Howards Maccas is next door so we lash out and have a couple of healthy wraps. No chips, coffee or any sort of extras. Neither of us feels satisfied. Strange isn’t it. Although the wraps are flour and water with a few salad items and a bit of chicken liberally laced with sauce or mayo it still tastes like we are eating fluff. Really, I do not know why we bother. I guess it was quick but certainly not cheap. Now maybe if they used a good rye bread and laid off on the sauce and mayo it might be a bit more substantial.
We buy a couple of “lazy susans” at Howards then head over to daughter Averyl, her husband Paul and the grandchildren, Shelby-Rose and Anakin house for the night. They had been to Airlie Beach for the day and had lunch at Jubilee Tavern just down the road from our house. It was good to catch up with them although tomorrow, being a work and school day, they all have to leave early.
